It all begins with the desire for a positive change.

Meet Michelle Jackman (She/Her)

Over the past 25 years, I have taken a few “scenic trips” along my road to a gratifying career in clinical Pediatrics. This included a transition from General Surgery residency and a recent transition into Executive coaching.

In 2020, I worked with a physician executive coach. This experience was transformative and led me to pursue coaching training myself. I was inspired to learn the framework of Executive Coaching myself. I subsequently went on to complete my training as an Executive Coach through Erickson International

Coaching as a Catalyst

Bringing coaching techniques to my clinical role as a practicing Pediatrician in multi-disciplinary teams, medical leader, and medical educator has been immensely gratifying and has become a great catalyst to inspire effectiveness of our delivery of care to patients and their families.

Qualification

My Executive Coaching training and support has brought me increased satisfaction as a parent, competitive athlete, partner and friend. I am also a Pediatric Obesity specialist and researcher with a MSc in exercise physiology. I am qualified to support you with decisions around your aspirations for physical and mental performance.

I am a surgeon with a busy clinical practice and for the past 10 years have also held a significant leadership role that has consumed a great deal of my time, dealing with a variety of organizational, interpersonal, mentoring, and planning challenges. This leadership role is coming to an end soon and I was feeling unsure of what I should do to fill this void. I therefore engaged Michelle Jackman at Coframe Physician Coaching over a 6-month time period in order to help me navigate this anticipated transition in my professional life.

Rather than jumping directly into the issue at hand Michelle started by challenging me to carefully identify my core personal values. She then had me list the things that I expected to lose once my current leadership job ended, and secondly the possible opportunities that might arise. She asked me to try to balance the losses against the gains and to try to see where these fit within the context of my core personal values. She never told me explicitly what she thought I should do but rather collated and summarized my answers and then provided me with several different organizational and cognitive frameworks aimed at helping me reach solutions that resonated with me. Even more exciting was the realization that I could use these same strategies to sort out other professional and personal dilemmas in the future.

Overall, this process with Michelle was very insightful and also, at times, surprisingly emotional. Michelle always made me feel comfortable and never judged as we worked through the process. I would strongly recommend Michelle as a professional coach to other physicians who are facing professional challenges or simply seeking to gain more professional fulfillment and self-awareness.

Thank you, Michelle!

Let’s partner to Coframe your passions, aspirations and priorities in a fun and light hearted way which will leave us both inspired and focused.
